RULES
The obvious: You know to be respectful of other players. You know that IC and OOC are not to be confused. You know that godmodding and powerplaying aren't on. You know not to create unnecessary drama, and presumably you know not to be a moron. And if you don't, well, you do now, so no excuses.
Posting: Posts should be written in third-person narrative form. You're not expected to be perfect, but basic knowledge of spelling and grammar is expected. Characters may appear in more than one thread at once, provided they're not happening at the same time. Be realistic, in other words. All threads should be tagged with the following:
Who: (Characters in the thread. Please specify whether the thread is open or locked to specific characters.) Where: When: Rating/Warnings: (Required for posts above a PG-13 rating.) While the game is primarily thread-based, players are welcome to play out scenes over AIM. Logs may be posted in the main community.
Activity: Players are expected to be active at least once per week. If you know ahead of time that you will not be able to post for longer than this, please post a notice in the OOC community.
Who is playable?
Old Gods: To avoid contention, the gods of the main monotheistic religions (ie. God, Jesus, Allah) are out of bounds. Any other deities or mythic figures (such as leprechauns, djinn, and so on) are fair game. As most Roman gods are reinterpretations of Greek gods, for the purposes of this game the Greco-Roman pantheons are one and the same. Although you're hardly expected to be an expert, you are expected to do some background research on your chosen god. There are a bunch of good web references in the resources section.
New Gods: In addition to the ancient religions, New Gods are very much welcome. These are essentially the physical embodiments of new innovations (like technology), new fads and modern consumer culture, and all the things Americans "worship", rely on or put their faith in now. Computers, television, radio, telecommunications, the internet, cars, planes, highways, guns, cigarettes, drugs, shopping malls, corporations, fast food, Big Oil - the list goes on. They tend not to embody some of the sweeping concepts ruled over by the gods of old, like music or wealth, but may well encompass new expressions of those things - like the music industry or rock 'n roll in the case of music, or capitalism, Wall Street or banking in the realm of wealth.
Mortals: Less impressive than the gods, perhaps, but nonetheless vital to their worship, mortal characters can also make an interesting addition to the game. More information: Check the About page for more detailed information about the game setting, the FAQ for any questions you might have and the Player Resources for other useful details. |
