New Gods

New Gods are the personifications of aspects of modern society and culture that humans have grown to depend on. The majority of these gods fall into one (occasionally more) of several broad categories:
  • Everyday conveniences and necessities, and the industries that produce them. The things we have come to rely on in modern-day life. Examples include Electricity, Media and the Internet.

  • Physical addictions, including legal and illegal drugs such as Big Tobacco, Alcohol, Marijuana and Heroin.

  • Aspects of culture and subculture, such as LGBTQ Culture, Hippie and Goth. This also includes literary and musical genres that have garnered a popular or cult following.

  • Political parties and issues, such as Feminism, LGBTQ Culture and National Security.

New Gods are born out of human faith, dependence or fascination with the thing they personify. It's relatively uncommon for them to give birth to other deities; when they do reproduce their offspring tend to be mortal, though these children often possess an unnatural affinity for their parent's domain. Occasionally, however, the coming together of two gods can prove the catalyst for a particular concept's deification - the final burst of power needed to form a physical being. An in-game example of this would be Chaos Theory, the daughter of Nuclear Power and National Security.
